BSA passed a resolution that the Scout Oath and Scout Law will be used in the Cub Scout and Venturing programs. Specifically for Cub Scouts, this means retiring the Cub Scout Promise. The Core Values of Cub Scouts will align exactly with the 12 points of the Scout Law. The Law of the Pack will be retired while maintaining the concept of “Akela” as leader. However, the current Cub Scout motto, sign, salute, and handshake will be maintained. These changes will become effective with the release of youth handbooks and leader aids supporting this and other changes approximately May 15, 2015, for Cub Scout-related changes.

On Saturday April 13th, 2013, the Lincoln Hamakers, Lincoln's new professional indoor football team, will be playing the Omaha Beef (their RIVAL) at 7:05pm at Pershing Auditorium. The council has arranged a special night for scout families to see this game. Tickets, $9.50 for members of Scouting, will be in sections 17 - 19. In addition to the public autograph session, Scouting receive a discout of Buy One Get One 50% off of the Rivalry Game T-Shirts being sold at the game (Coupon included with the Ticket Order form).

The permission slip says there is a $10 late fee for missing payments. CORRECTION: The late fee is much higher because the camp itself has a higher cost for scouts not following the payment schedule.

Permission slips were handed out at the Jan. court of honor. There is some info that was inadvertently left in the info that pertained to last year's camp.

A new edition of Boy Scout Requirements was released in mid-January, 2013. This reflects changes to the Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, and Eagle rank requirements, and a very minor change to the wording of Joining (Scout) requirement 7.

Alec and Max have received their paperwork from BSA National so their Eagle ranks are now official. Watch for info on their Eagle courts of honor. Congrats to them and their families.
