Troop Pancake Feed Feb. 15

Posted on Mar 19 2015 - 11:12am

Our pancake fundraiser was a relative success. We served about 200 people and netted around $1200. Because we increased the price of adult tickets by $1 this year, our net would have been around $1000 otherwise. Several scouts and adults worked all three shifts, so huge kudos to those people. We would have had staffing issues if they had not.

March Outing

Posted on Mar 19 2015 - 11:10am

Permission slips were due March 16 for the March outing. Four Venture Patrol (1st Class and 14+) members are planning a special backpacking overnighter on the bluffs Saturday night. The others will take advantage of advancement time and the trails and cave the park offers.

Posted on Mar 19 2015 - 8:28am

Joseph Blecha accepted Kent's invitation to attend the week-long NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training). He will be attending the Mid-America Council's session in late July. Hunter Foged, who attended NYLT last year, will be returning this year to staff the event.

Coffee serving

Posted on Mar 19 2015 - 8:25am

We will serve coffee at the church between the morning services April 19.  The number of scouts at this event have been up recently but we had as few as one scout and one adult.  It's important we are well represented.

The benefits of scouting

Posted on Mar 19 2015 - 8:01am

According to a recent study, the Millenial generation is falling behind in their ability to think. (http://www.payscale.com/career-news/2015/03/when-it-comes-to-job-skills-...).  This supports that scouting's need to teach leadership skills, involving thinking and interacting, are extremely important.

Adults present were Jeff Boettcher (former Pack 13 Cubmaster and Den Leader), Scott Sutter and Kent Wolfe.  Congrats to Jordan, Nathan and their families.
